About Takeshi

Takeshi Matsuki assumes the role of Japan Country Manager at the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC). With over two decades of experience in environmental engineering and renewable energy, Takeshi brings a unique combination of technical expertise and policy insight to his new role.

He began his career at Tsukishima Kikai Co., Ltd., where he focused on developing and commercializing environmental technologies. He later joined Mitsubishi Research Institute, one of Japan’s leading private think tanks, where he worked in the Global Environment Research Division and led renewable energy consulting projects. During his time there, he was seconded to a joint venture with J-POWER, contributing to CO₂ reduction efforts in power generation, and to the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, where he developed national technology strategies as an expert advisor.

After leaving Mitsubishi Research Institute, Takeshi held senior roles at global companies including Sony and Veolia before joining Vena Energy, one of APAC’s leading renewable IPPs. As Senior Manager for Offshore Wind Bidding Strategy, he led Japan’s Round 2 and Round 3 auction preparations and engaged actively with industry associations such as JWPA and REASP, building strong networks across the sector.

At GWEC, Takeshi supports Japan’s wind industry development through strategic engagement, policy work, and close collaboration with government and private sector stakeholders, strengthening the foundation for an investable and resilient offshore wind market.
