About João
João Marques is joining the team as Grids Programme Manager. Before joining GWEC, João worked as a Grid Inspection Engineer intern and later as an R&D Engineer and Project Manager at EDP, where he focused on bridging the gap between emerging technologies and industry needs in the renewable energy sector and power system integration. He coordinated the EU-funded ROMAIN project, where robotic solutions for wind turbine blade inspections and repairs were developed to improve operational safety and maintenance efficiency. In addition, João contributed to several European research and innovation initiatives, conducting techno-economic analyses, validation activities, and stakeholder engagement. Through this work, he supported the development of reliable, cost-effective wind, wave, solar, and storage technologies and their integration in energy grids.
