About This Summit

The Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC), together with the Chinese Wind Energy Association (CWEA), Chinese Renewable Energy Industries Association (CREIA) and Europe - Asia Center, will host the first edition of Powering the Future: Wind & Tech, a high-level summit convened as an official side event of China Wind Power 2026 – the largest wind industry event in the world. This event brings together industry leaders from the clean technology ecosystem, including Wind, Solar, Storage, Green Hydrogen, AI and Robotics, to discuss how to win with wind in the global age of electricity.

The event is part of a broader October 2026 China Engagement Programme that will bring global industry discussions to one of the world's leading wind markets, anchored around China Wind Power (14–16 October).

Why Now?

  • The age of electricity will not be enacted by any lone technology. A system-level approach is required to achieve a secure and efficient energy transition, such as by leveraging cross-sector electrification and exploring various techno-industrial models for scale.

  • Technology innovation and convergence (wind, solar, storage, green hydrogen, Al and robotics) is accelerating, with wind in a prime position to play a central role in future zero carbon energy systems.

  • As a wind and technology powerhouse that is leveraging Al and robotics to accelerate the energy transition, China can provide crucial lessons to other countries pursuing a shift to renewables-based electrification, particularly those in the Global South.
