Greece: The Hellenic Wind Energy Association Joins GWEC

GWEC is pleased to welcome the Hellenic Wind Energy Association (HWEA) as a new member of its influential circle of members promoting wind energy around the globe. The HWEA, best known in Greek as ELETAEN, was founded in 1990 by 50 wind energy pioneers including Arthouros Zervos, Dimitris Lalas and Ioannis Tsipouridis.

Today, HWEA’s membership boasts over 400 wind energy professionals and companies including engineers, scientists, lawyers, financiers and producers, developers, resource assessment companies, and contractors. HWEA does advocacy work with the Greek authorities, takes active part in the social dialogue, organises events and communicates the benefits of wind power via multiple channels. The Greek government has set an ambitious target of reaching 7,500 MW of wind power by 2020.
