27 January, Lisbon, Portugal | The Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC) has named former Chairman and Corio Generation founding CEO Jonathan Cole as a Global Ambassador.

During his two-year term as Chairman, Cole oversaw a period of historic growth for the industry. Jonathan Cole supported GWEC’s focus on supply chain resilience and streamlining regulatory frameworks in both emerging and mature markets. As an Ambassador, Cole will continue to serve as a high-level representative for the wind sector at major international climate and energy forums.

Cole brings over two decades of leadership to the role, having previously directed Iberdrola’s global offshore wind business before leading Corio Generation. His track record includes overseeing a 60 GW project pipeline across the Americas, Asia-Pacific, and Europe. His appointment as Ambassador ensures that GWEC retains his deep technical expertise and diplomatic network during a critical decade for the energy transition.

“The Global Wind Energy Council is delighted to welcome Jonathan Cole back to the team as a Global Ambassador. As Chair, Jonathan supported GWEC's expansion to new markets, particularly in the Asia-Pacific region."

"As the world prepares to accelerate the deployment of wind energy in many of those markets, the GWEC team looks forward to being able to call on Jonathan’s expertise, guidance, and experience of turning ambitious plans into realised projects.”
