17 December, Lisbon, Portugal| The Global Wind Energy Council and RE+ Events are delighted to announce a new partnership and unveil Hanoi, Vietnam as the host of the next APAC Summit. The partnership brings together the voice of the wind industry with the leading global events and association management organisation specialising in the clean energy industry. GWEC and RE+Events will also explore further GWEC Summits in new locations, focused on driving the acceleration of wind energy around the world.

This partnership reaffirms the APAC Summit as the leading industry-focused event, built by industry representatives. It will bring GWEC and the wind sector to more locations, through the global reach of RE+ Events international trade shows and potential new events. This vital work will drive collaboration at the governmental, regulatory, and supply-chain level, and focus on clearing challenges to ensure the potential of the energy transition is realised rapidly, for all.

The partnership will initially focus on accelerating the deployment of wind energy in the Asia-Pacific by bringing together industry, government, and key institutions at APAC Sumit 2026.

In future years, the collaboration will expand to provide educational content to support new markets, enable work with media and policymakers in new regions, and facilitate business development opportunities for GWEC members.

Ben Backwell, CEO of the Global Wind Energy Council,
said, “This partnership brings together the voice of the wind industry with one of the world's leading renewable energy event organisers, and will ensure wind energy is front and centre of the energy transition. As the world enters the Age of Electricity, it is vital that the wind industry is clear about its success and vocal about its wide-ranging benefits. This partnership will ensure the wind industry can do that, as well as deliver the collaboration with governments and institutions that will clear hurdles and ensure new capacity is delivered to new markets at pace.

“GWEC looks forward to working with RE+ Events on APAC Summit 2026 in Hanoi, Vietnam. Vietnam has huge wind energy ambitions as well as a huge commitment to collaboration with industry that will help turn those plans into action. See you in Hanoi in June.”

Stephen Miner, President and CEO, RE+ Events, said, “RE+ Events is committed to bringing clean energy conversations to the regions where they matter most. Partnering with GWEC allows us to expand the reach of wind energy into new and dynamic markets, starting with APAC Summit 2026 in Hanoi. This is a major step in a global effort to connect stakeholders, share knowledge, and empower communities to achieve a sustainable energy future.”

Accelerating Potential

The Asia-Pacific region is expected make up 61% of new wind energy capacity built worldwide by 2030. Total onshore wind capacity in the region could double to 1,084 GW by the end of the decade, with another 122 GW of potential capacity coming from offshore wind.

Hanoi, Vietnam will host next year’s APAC Summit, with the country at the centre of the next wave of wind development in the region. The country’s updated Power Development Plan VIII outlines a target of 6-17 GW of offshore wind installed by 2035, with more than 100 GW installed by 2050. The country expects to advance plans for its first 6GW of offshore wind in 2026.

To strengthen its global reach, GWEC will be bringing their expertise to RE+ 26 in Las Vegas, Nevada, November 16–19, 2026. This collaboration ensures wind energy has a prominent voice at one of the world’s largest clean energy gatherings.

APAC Summit 2026 will be held 9-11 June, in Hanoi, Vietnam. To sponsor or exhibit at the event please contact the GWEC and RE+ Events International Sales Manager, Pamela Velazco at pvelazco@re-plus.com.
