Webcast on Wind: Doing Business In … Brazil (13 June 2017, 15h CEST)

Join Elbia Gannoum, CEO of ABEEolica (Brazilian Wind Association), and Steve Sawyer, Secretary General of Global Wind Energy Council, for our ‘Doing Business In ... Brazil’ webcast on Tuesday 13 June at 15h CEST.

Brazil is ranked 9th globally in terms of installed wind capacity. During 2016, it reached the 10 GW milestone, installing 2 GW during the course of the year, and bringing the total installed wind capacity to 10.74 GW, representing around a 7% share in the energy matrix.

Although the Brazilian wind market continues to grow, it is facing an important challenge as the country is going through an economic crisis, causing a reduction in demand. For the first time since wind energy started being included in auctions, there were no auctions at all for this source during 2016.

During this webcast, Steve will provide an update on the global wind markets.  Elbia will provide an overview of the status of the Brazilian market and will talk about what challenges lay ahead for the wind sector.

The audience will hear about:

  • challenges in demand and the upcoming auctions
  • the financing landscape
  • transmission development
