Ukraine adds 18.32 MW of new wind power in first half of 2013




Ukraine added 18.32 MW of new wind power capacity during the first six months of 2013. At the end of June the total wind capacity reached 315.76 MW, out of which 290.76 MW were connected to the national electricity grid, according to the Ukrainian Wind Energy Association (UWEA). In addition, several other wind energy projects are under construction on a number of sites located namely in Lugansk, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions as well as in Crimea. The total investment amounts to about €84 million.

UWEA expects to install another 180 MW in 2013 bringing the total to about 500 MW. The top three producers in Ukraine are Wind Parks of Ukraine, LLC and Wind Power (DTEK).
