We’re happy to announce that the Turkish Wind Energy Association (TWEA) has become the latest GWEC member.
TWEA is a membership-based association, governed by an administrative board, headed by its president Mustafa Serdar who is Chairman of Turkish energy company Ataseven.
TWEA works towards promoting the choice of wind as preferred source of energy, and is the authoritative voice for the industry in Turkey, doing advocacy work with national authorities including the General Directorate of Renewable Energy (former EIE), Turkish Electricity Transmission Company (TEİAŞ), General Directorate of Energy Affairs (EİGM), Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA) and Ministry of Energy.
Turkey forms a natural bridge between Asia, Africa and Europe and has enormous wind potential with already 3 MW of installed capacity, a further 11 GW in planning stages, and expectations to increase this to 20 GW by 2023.
With this in mind a new wind energy event – Intercontinental Wind Power Congress will be staged on 30th March to 2nd April 2015 in Istanbul. GWEC is a partner of the event.
